According to koodakpress، Reports say a teenager has been found dead near the British capital after being stabbed in an area south east of London amid soaring knife crimes in the UK.

The Metropolitan Police, known as the Met, said Sunday that the 18-year-old boy had been fatally stabbed late on Saturday in Topham House in Prior Street, Greenwich.

Officials said the teenager could not be saved despite efforts by paramedics from the London Air Ambulance who attended to the scene.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested and being questioned in connection to the murder, said the Met.

The death is the latest to come from a spree of fatal stabbings in London and other UK cities.

More than 200 people have been killed as a result of the violence across the UK in 2018 with the Met investigating over 120 cases only in the capital.

A new report shows 37 teenagers and children have been killed in knife crime incidents in UK this year.
This year has been one of the worst on record for youth fatality as a result of knife crime violence. Around 40 children and teenagers have been killed in such attacks in Britain.

The surge in violence and the resulting deaths is mainly blamed on an understaffed police force as recurrent budget cuts have rendered the force incapable of responding to all emergencies in large cities.

The government has denied its cuts, which have been placed since 2010 when the austerity measures were unveiled, have had any role to play.
